KINGSTON, Jamaica — The code-share flight agreement between Jamaica and Emirates has been reaffirmed following high-level meetings in Dubai between Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett and senior executives from Emirates Airline.

“This is phenomenal news for Jamaica,” according to State Minister in the Ministry of Tourism, Delano Seiveright. “You’ll be able to fly from Montego Bay to Frankfurt and on to Dubai with no baggage issues, no drama — just one single ticket all the way through and back.”

According to Seiveright, Emirates officially reconfirmed the arrangement in writing and has also committed to actively promoting Jamaica through its Emirates Holidays platform. The move is expected to increase Jamaica’s visibility among Middle Eastern travellers and further diversify the country’s tourism markets.

“This is a huge deal for Jamaica. We’ve been doing a lot of work in the Arabian space, especially post-COVID as we look to broaden our horizons and attract more visitors from new regions,” he added.

The long-term hope, Seiveright noted, is that one day Emirates will launch a nonstop service to Jamaica — a goal that would mark a major milestone in the island’s international air connectivity.

The code-share agreement had come under scrutiny from the Opposition, who had alleged that the Government was misleading the country about the flight being a direct one. Since then, both the Government and Emirates rejected the allegations and indicated the code-share agreement is solid.
