Champion jockey Raddesh Roman reaches new heights
…celebrates 300th career win with emotional tribute to supporters
Raddesh Roman, the current champion jockey, etched his name in the annals of horse racing history by securing his 300th career win. The milestone achievement took place on Sunday, May 4, 2025, at Caymanas Park.
Roman’s remarkable day began with a win aboard Storm in the fourth race, setting the tone for an extraordinary afternoon. That was win number 299.
However, it was in the sixth race, a maiden special weight contest for native-bred fillies, that Roman rode Queen Latepha, trained by Gregg Fennell, to victory, reaching the coveted 300-win mark. The crowd erupted in applause as Roman celebrated with his team. He further his winning streak, reaching 301 victories in the seventh race atop
Final Load for a triple on the day.
Roman expressed heartfelt gratitude.
“It is a very wonderful feeling knowing that I achieved the milestone of winning 300 career races. I just want to say thank you to Father God, all the owners, trainers, grooms, fellow jockeys, fans, and family members who have supported me throughout the years,” Roman told the Jamaica Observer’s The Supreme Racing Guide.
Roman’s journey is a testament to his unwavering commitment to excellence.
“I am pleased with the progress of my career so far. I can’t complain, and I am just going to continue putting in the hard work and hope for the best every time,” Roman said.
This dedication has enabled him to ride numerous exceptional horses, including Commandant and Desert of Malibu. Notably, Roman has won prestigious races like the 2000 Guineas and the Jamaica St Leger aboard Blue Vinyl.
As Roman looks to the future, his resolve remains unshaken.
“The plan is to continue working hard, getting the rides, and winning the races,” he affirmed.
