WASHINGTON, United States — United States (US) President Donald Trump has officially signed the executive order allowing undocumented migrants in the country to “self-deport” and will provide free flights to anywhere in the world, he says.
“Any illegal alien can simply show up at an airport and receive a free flight out of our country. We have launched a phone app called CBP Home, that’s CBP Home, where illegals can book a free flight to any foreign country,” said the president in a video posted to social media on Friday.
The initial announcement on Monday had indicated the migrants would be provided flights to their home country, but Friday Trump said, “we are making it as easy as possible for illegal aliens to leave America— As long as it’s not here, you can go anywhere you want,” he said.
The president did not disclose any immigration partnerships with countries on the potential receiving end of these flights during the video.
The president doubled down on the US$1000 self-deportation payout announced earlier this week.
“We’re also adding a very important exit bonus for illegals to further incentivise their self-deportation. This deportation bonus will save American taxpayers billions and billions of dollars,” Trump said before proceeding to lambast Former President Joe Biden.
“What Biden did to this country can never be explained, will never ever be accepted,” he said.
Trump claimed it would save Americans trillions of dollars “when the illegals are gone”.
The president levelled threats against anyone remaining in the country illegally, promising “severe consequences— including significant jail time, enormous financial penalties, confiscation of all property, garnishment of all wages, imprisonment and incarceration and sudden deportation in a place and manner solely of our discretion.”
He also reiterated the potential of legal residence for some of those who self-deported.
“Book your free flight right now. We want you out of America, but if you’re really good, we’re going to try and help you get back in,” Trump said.
