World Relays: Jamaica’s 4x400m women shockingly finish down the track
Jamaica’s women’s 4x400m relay team ran a disappointing 3:40.54 minutes for sixth and last in their first round heat on Saturday’s first day of the World Relays in Guangzhou, China.
Lead off runner Jodeen Williams, running with a bandage on her right hamstring, literally jogged her leg in 56.85 seconds, slowest of anyone in the race.
The other members of the team, Roneisha McGregor and Kelly-Ann Beckford – who had earlier run the mixed 4x400m – and hurdle specialist Ronda Whyte also made no impression against the competition.
It means the team will have to wait until Sunday’s second day to attempt to qualify for the Tokyo World Championships in September.
