Sandals South Coast rolls out red carpet for ‘Welcome Home Week’

SANDALS South Coast turned up the heat recently, celebrating its returning guests during the much-anticipated Welcome Home Week under the theme ‘Your Caribbean, Your Home Away from Home’.

Set against the backdrop of Jamaica’s lush south coast and following closely on the heels of Sandals Resorts’ Made of Caribbean campaign launch, this year’s celebration took returning guests on a soul-stirring journey of rhythm, flavour and adventure, tapping into the very essence of Caribbean living.

The week kicked off in spirited style with the One Love Rum & Games Night, a true taste of island life.

Underneath starlit skies guests gathered to sip and savour local rums, craft beers, and signature cocktails. Traditional bites like jerk chicken skewers, roast breadfruit, and sweet potato pudding were passed around as they were given a playful crash course in Caribbean games such as ludo, dominoes and other beloved pastimes.

As the sun set on day two, the energy was high for the highlight event of the week — the Caribbean Allure Gala. Held under elegant lights with a menu inspired by the the island, the gala was a feast for every sense.

From coffee-crusted beef strip loin with shrimp to Irish-mashed cheesecake, each dish told a story of heritage and heart.

The Ashe Company, Jamaica’s powerhouse performing arts group and also the main act for the gala, brought the house down with a cultural medley that spanned reggae, dancehall, soca, Afrobeat, reggaeton, and Latin pop.

The performers’ seamless fusion of voice and movement held guests in rapt attention, with many describing it as “a performance that felt like a journey through the Caribbean’s history itself”.

Adventure lovers got their thrill on an off-resort excursion to the adrenaline-fuelled JamWest Motorsports and Adventure Park. There, guests saddled up for horseback rides through tropical trails, ziplined through the treetops, revved up ATVs across rugged terrain, and embraced Jamaican history with an immersive culture tour.

It was a perfect blend of excitement and education, giving visitors a deeper appreciation for the island’s raw beauty.

As the week wound down, spirits remained high with Brawta — a surprise in-house talent production — during which the resort’s management team traded suits for spotlights. From soulful solos to choreographed dance numbers and instrumentals, the night offered pure laughter, showing guests a whole new side of the people behind the scenes.

The grand finale was a bacchanal bliss, and in the true spirit of Carnival the resort was transformed into a soca-lovers’ paradise for the Soca Fete Beach Party. Guests donned vibrant attire and dove headfirst into a J’ouvert-style celebration. With holi powder and music by the SoundWave Band, they partied the night away.

“Welcome Home Week is more than a celebration,” said Trisean Wright, loyalty and travel manager at the resort.

“It’s our way of saying thank you to the guests who return to us time and again. They’re not just vacationers — they’re family. We wanted them to feel the full embrace of the Caribbean — from our spices to our stories — and I think, as a team, we were able to do just that,” added Wright.

The Ashe Company brings the roof down at the Sandals South Coast Welcome Home Week Gala with a show-stopping performance of music and dance from across the region.

Sandals South Coast guests welcome the chance to get fully immersed during an off-resort excursion to JamWest Motorsports & Adventure Park.

Hotel manager at Sandals South Coast Alicia Mullings shares a light moment with General Manager O’Brian Heron after he was presented with a miniature statue of himself from a guest.
