Title holders Frazsiers Whip among big JWPL winners
WiFi defeat Real MoBay 3-0
Defending champions Frazsiers Whip, third-placed Arnett Gardens, and Los Perfectos all ended their first-round schedule in the Jamaica Women’s Premier League with big wins on Saturday.
Frazsiers Whip blanked Mile Gully 7-0 to open a five-point lead at the top of the points table with their 10th win in a row to start the season.
After back-to-back tight wins, Frazsiers Whip returned to their usual high scoring ways against Mile Gully FC. Cassandra Smith guided the way with a hat-trick as Frazsiers Whip led 4-0 at half-time.
Shauna-Kay Chambers scored in the fifth minute to give Frazsiers Whip the lead, while Nevillegail Able, Jennifer Williams and Danishca Rattray contributed the other goals as they eased to 30 points.
Shakira Douglas scored four times for Arnett Gardens in their 7-0 victory over Real MoBay AFC to take over the lead in the scoring race with 20.
Douglas scoring in the ninth, 55th, 62nd and 75th minutes.
Tuanashae Hamilton had started the rout when she scored in the seventh minute, while Shaunalee Johnson (22nd) and Tatyana Black, who struck at the end of the first half, got the other goals.
With the win, Arnett Gardens cut into the points deficit against second-placed Cavalier FC. They have 22 points to trail Cavalier by only three points
Los Perfectos FC beat Springers United 9-0 with Veniecia Reid scoring five times at Brooks Park.
Reid doubled her tally as she raced to 10 goals on the season. She scored in the 17th, 32nd, 36th, 45+2, and 46th minutes.
Sashana Campbell had a hat-trick, with goals in the second, 34th and 61st minutes, while Tashika Hamilton scored in the 89th.
WiFi United (14 points) jumped into fifth place by beating UWI Women’s FC 3-0 at The UWI Bowl with goals from Kafele Gibbs (19th), Tashel Davis (52nd) and Evernique McCleary, who found the back of the net four minutes into time added.
Proven Girls won their second game of the round, beating last-placed Federal United 2-0. They got goals from Brianna Smith in the 40th minute and Juilicia Pinnock in the 59th.
