St Andrew man discharged following mediation in assault case
KINGSTON, Jamaica — A St Andrew man who was charged with assault occasioning bodily harm, was on Tuesday formally discharged with a verdict of not guilty when he appeared in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court.
The accused, Leonard Curate, was alleged to have physically assaulted a woman on December 26, 2024, causing bodily harm.
In court, Curate had entered a plea of not guilty in the matter.
Following a successful mediation, the Crown offered no evidence against him. However, Curate was ordered to pay $50,000 in compensation for damage to the complainant’s kitchen window.
He paid $25,000 on Tuesday, with the outstanding balance to be settled at a later date.
