Pizza Hut recognises educators with Teachers’ Day tribute
ST ANN, Jamaica-Teachers of Ocho Rios and Breadnut primary schools in St Ann were presented with gift packages in recognition of their unwavering dedication by Pizza Hut Jamaica on Teachers’ Day.
The gesture was led by Pizza Hut’s marketing officer, Levene Sheriff, alongside team members Nadine Barriffe, Sandra Rose, and Natoya Grier.
“Our goal was to simply honour the teachers who continue to shape young minds and strengthen our communities. Sometimes these small gestures have a really big impact. We believe in showing appreciation to our everyday heroes, and Teachers’ Day gave us a meaningful opportunity to express that gratitude in a tangible way,” said Sheriff.
Teacher Tanya Mantock explained that at Ocho Rios Primary, the school encourages appreciation through a committee that highlights educators who demonstrate exceptional dedication each term.
“We always strive to go above and beyond, not just for our students, but for their parents. Acts of kindness like this remind us that our efforts are seen, and they reinforce a culture of appreciation that uplifts the entire school community,” said Mantock.
The sentiment was echoed at Breadnut Hill Primary, where visits from corporate brands are rare due to the school’s rural location. Teachers there expressed similar appreciation for the initiative.
“I appreciate the gift. The bag will come in handy for carrying my laptop and [teaching] materials,” said Melissa Boiled, grade 5B teacher.
“Pizza Hut’s presence during Read Across Jamaica was already so impactful, and this Teachers’ Day gesture added even more meaning. It reminded us that we are seen, valued, and appreciated for the important work we do every day,” added Reiness Marsh, teacher at Breadnut Hill Primary.
For the Pizza Hut team, the day served as a reminder that community investment goes far beyond any single event.
“It’s not just about the pizza, it’s about building relationships and creating moments that show people they matter. When we celebrate teachers, we celebrate the minds that create the future of our country,” Sheriff reflected.
The decision to present gifts on the same day as Read Across Jamaica Day gave the visits added depth. By extending appreciation to both students and teachers in a single engagement, the Pizza Hut team reinforced its commitment to holistic support, acknowledging the learners and the educators who guide them each day.
In addition to the school visits, Pizza Hut amplified its Teachers’ Day outreach with a nationwide digital contest, inviting students, parents, guardians, and even fellow teachers to nominate their favourite educators via Facebook and Instagram.
Participants shared heartfelt stories explaining why their nominated teacher deserved recognition.
From the many inspiring entries received, a total of eight winners, four from each platform, have been selected to receive special gifts. These gifts will be delivered to the winners as part of Pizza Hut’s continued efforts to show that educators are valued and appreciated for the critical role they play in building the minds of the next generation and shaping the future.
