ST JAMES, Jamaica — In celebration of Read Across Jamaica Day, observed on Tuesday, May 6, students of the Roehampton Primary School spent the day with Island Routes.

A team of 11 Island Routes employees made the journey to the school, where they read to students from grades one through six.

The initiative, led by Island Routes Public Relations Coordinator Toni-Shea Grey, highlighted the company’s commitment to nurturing and strengthening local community ties and contributing meaningfully to national development.

“Helping our children improve their literacy skills and become thoughtful, engaged members of society was our main goal for Read Across Jamaica Day,” said Grey.

“We know it can’t be achieved in a single day, but we’re committed to playing our part in their development.”

In addition to reading with the students, the Island Routes team donated two boxes of books and educational materials to the school’s library, as part of the company’s ongoing effort to drive positive social impact in the destinations it serves.

Renique Campbell, human resources manager at Island Routes, emphasised the importance of such efforts.

“At the heart of our corporate values is a steadfast commitment to community engagement and educational advancement. We believe that supporting literacy is not just a corporate responsibility but also a vital contribution to the social and intellectual fabric of our communities.”
