Singer Ghost gives free game on how to approach women in new single
THE talent that is Carlton “Ghost” Hylton is both magnetic and undeniable. If you’re talking about stage presence while delivering songs that feed your soul, no one does it better than the enthralling singer. With a penchant for wooing the ladies through sweet melodies, Ghost is hoping to use his latest single to school today’s generation of men on the art of smooth-talking.
According to the singer, when engaging women, especially in a first encounter, men have lost their “gentlemanly approach.
“The new single is called Be Your Friend and it’s out on all digital platforms. It came out about four months ago, the video is also out on my YouTube channel so you guys can go check it out and see what’s happening,” he told the Jamaica Observer.
“The theme of this song is all about the right approach. Our society is getting from a place of, ‘Hello, excuse me, can I get to know you, get your number, take you out on a date?’ to ‘Yow, rumps roops,’ ‘Yow, mi dawg’, ‘Yow B’ — and the women are reacting to it. Mi nuh understand it at all. Things really getting bad.”
The singer, who had just ended a delightful set at the recently-concluded Romain Virgo and Friends Mother’s Day event at Hope Gardens, said he took it upon himself to give today’s men a free guide on how to “look woman”.
“Girl, I love your vibe, where do we begin? … I wanna be your friend. You’re looking so nice…can I buy you a drink of something? I wanna be your friend.” These are just a few of the lines from the catchy single.
“The song speaks to how the young men should approach the women nowadays. You go to a party, you see someone you like, you offer to buy drinks, take your time and engage in light conversations. Just be a gentleman,” Ghost said. “Say some nice, appropriate things instead of di rough-up thing. It nuh sound good. This is all about delivery. Di man dem must learn proper approach.”
The entertainer, determined to keep things positive through his releases, said he’s also promoting a track he did with Bounty Killer titled,
Despite It All. He expressed that the single speaks to the hardships Jamaicans are currently experiencing but credits their resilient spirit for remaining positive through it all.
“We a go through rough times, many of us, but the song is saying despite it all, we continue pushing,” he said, also revealing other singles on rotation for him. “I also have a song titled Humble Before Thee where we’re speaking about God and being humble in his presence. These singles I’m speaking to are just preparing my fans for the new album to come.”
The singer said although there is no set time frame for the album’s release, he’s hoping to drop the project before the end of the year.
