Corinaldi Avenue and Albion seek VMF U-13 semis spots
The first two semi-finalists in the St James Football Association/Victoria Mutual Foundation (VMF) Under-13 competiotion will be decided today with the playing of the first two quarter-finals at WesPow Park.
Two-time defending champions Corinaldi Avenue Primary will play former champions Catherine Hall Primary in the first game set to start at 10:00 am, followed by former champions Howard Cooke Primary against Albion Primary.
Two more semi-finalists will be decided on Wednesday when Barracks Road Primary take on Irwin Primary and Fairfield International Academy face Chetwood Primary.
The winners will advance to the semi-finals set for next Tuesday, with the final set for May 30, all games set for West Pow Park.
Fairfield International completed the quarter-final line-up last Thursday after Barracks Road Primary eliminated Catadupa Primary, beating them 3-0 in their Group B game.
Barracks Road Primary was one of three schools that completed their schedule with perfect records, with Corinaldi Avenue Primary and Albion Primary.
Today, Group A winners Corinaldi Avenue will try to extend their run of games without conceding a goal when they take on Catherine Hall, the runners-up in Group C.
Corinaldi Avenue have scored 27 goals in their five games, including being awarded points from Somerton Primary who failed to show up for their game.
Catherine Hall Primary edged Granville Primary for the runner-up spot in Group C, finishing with 10 points, winning three games, losing one, and drawing the other.
After failing to make it past the first round in the past two seasons, Albion Primary won all five first-round games, without conceding a goal, on their way to topping Group C and will face Group A runners-up Howard Cooke Primary for a spot in the top four.
