Barracks Road and Chetwood seek semi spots in St James FA U-13s
The second set of semi-finalists in the St James Football Association/Victoria Mutual Foundation Under-13 competition will be decided today as the quarter-finals continue at WesPow Park in Tucker.
Unbeaten Group B winners and Barracks Road Primary will face Irwin Primary in the first game set to start at 10:00 am, followed by Fairfield International Academy against Chetwood Primary.
Today’s winners will join defending champions Corinaldi Avenue Primary and former champions Howard Cooke Primary in next week’s semi-finals after wins over Catherine Hall Primary and Albion Primary, respectively, on Tuesday.
Deshane Gordon scored a double for Corinaldi Avenue in their win over Catherine Hall while Taysean Anderson also got a brace for Howard Cooke in their 3-0 upset over the previously unbeaten Albion Primary, who had not conceded a goal in the competition coming into the play-offs.
Corinaldi Avenue extended their run of clean sheets through the season as Josiah Thelwell opened the scoring in the 12th minute and Gordon doubled the lead in the 27th minute as they led 2-0 at half-time.
Catherine Hall tried to rally in the second half but couldn’t get on the scoresheet before Gordon scored directly from a corner kick in the 58th minute to confirm the win.
Anderson, who scored just once in the season, surprised the Group C winners with goals in the 16th and 19th minutes before Jaheim Walked scored a free kick in the 53rd minute.
