Linstead Public Hospital to benefit from 10th Tru-Juice 5K Run/Walk
THE Tru-Juice 5K Run/Walk will return for its 10th staging on Sunday, June 8 with organisers announcing plans to exceed the record $4.9 million raised last year in support of the Linstead Public Hospital.
Hosted annually by Trade Winds Citrus, the event has become a key fixture on the parish’s calendar and has consistently directed proceeds toward improving health care services at the Linstead-based facility. This year marks the sixth-consecutive year that the hospital has been named as the beneficiary.
Organisers say funds raised in previous years went toward the acquisition of vital medical equipment, with this year’s target aiming at further strengthening the hospital’s resources and capacity to deliver care.
“Tru-Juice is proud to call St Catherine home, and this 5K reflects our long-standing commitment to giving back,” Tru-Juice Marketing Manager Lauren Mahfood said. “It’s not just about crossing a finish line — it’s about investing in the lives and well-being of the people who make up our community. Celebrating our 10th anniversary is a big deal for us. It is a reminder of what’s possible when corporate and community come together for a common cause.”
St Catherine Health Services Parish Manager Abdon Campbell also acknowledged the long-term impact of the partnership.
“Support from the Tru-Juice 5K has made a real difference in our ability to serve not just St Catherine, but the surrounding parishes,” he said. “These kinds of partnerships strengthen public health care in meaningful ways.”
Mahfood says that this year’s target is ambitious.
“We want to double last year’s total,” she said. “We are encouraging families, schools, fitness groups, and corporate companies to come out and take part. Run, walk, or cheer — every bit of support counts.”
The event will begin at 6:30 am with a warm-up session, followed by the run at 7:00 am and the walk at 7:05 am, all taking place at the Tru-Juice orchards in Bog Walk, St Catherine. Registration costs $3,000 and is now open to participants of all ages at www.trujuice5k.com. Each registrant will receive a commemorative T-shirt in honour of the 10th anniversary.
