Sterling Asset Management has once again partnered with Crime Stop Jamaica, contributing J$1 million to support the organisation’s efforts to combat crime and promote safer communities across the island. The sponsorship was formally announced on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at a handover held at Sterling’s New Kingston office.

This latest sponsorship builds on Sterling’s multi-year support of the organisation, which included a $5 million commitment between 2021 and 2023 and $1 million in 2024, bringing its total contribution to date to $7 million.

“Sterling has always believed that crime prevention is a shared responsibility. It involves law enforcement, yes, but also businesses, civil society, and individuals who care about the future of the country,” said Toni-Ann Neita-Elliott, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Sterling Asset Management Ltd.

“Sterling’s support is grounded in the idea that a stable society creates the foundation for economic growth. When communities are safer, it improves quality of life, supports business confidence, and strengthens national development. The reduction of crime supports every sector of society,” Neita-Elliott said.

Crime Stop has consistently proven to be a powerful deterrent to violent crime, creating a safer environment for citizens and delivering wide-reaching benefits to the Jamaican economy.

Data from Crime Stop’s Q1 2025 report highlights the tangible impact of its efforts. The programme received 237 anonymous tips, an 11 per cent increase compared to Q1 2024. These tips led to the seizure of 13 illegal firearms, 197 rounds of ammunition, nine kilograms of marijuana, and 22 arrests, marking a 38 per cent increase in arrests over the previous year.

Crime Stop also supports social engagement as a deterrent to crime. Through the EU-funded BRIDGE Project, the organisation has nurtured youth involvement in crime prevention with creative initiatives, such as cinematography training at Charlie Smith High School and the launch of mural projects at Charlie Smith and Haile Selassie high schools.
