Cavalier beat Mt Pleasant in penalties to defend JPL title
Cavalier SC defended their Wray & Nephew Jamaica Premier League title on Friday, beating Mount Pleasant Football Academy 6-5 on penalties at the National Stadium.
It was the third year in a row the teams were meeting in the final but for the second year in a row, the final was decided by penalties after it ended goalless after regulation and extra time.
Mount Pleasant had the better chances over the 120 minutes but Cavalier goalkeeper Vino Barclett pulled a string of saves to ensure the game was decided by spot kicks.

Both teams would miss one of their first five kicks as Cavalier’s Christopher Ainsworth and Mount Pleasant’s Sue-Lae McCalla both blasted over the bar.
Barclett would turn out to be the hero as he denied Clifford Thomas and Cavalier came out champions.
Not only was it their second straight hold, but their third in five years under Rudolph Speid who has become one of the most successful coaches in local football.
Both teams will now turn their attention to the 2025 Caribbean Cup which is set to kick off in August.
