Unbelievable Force eyes victory in Millard Ziadie Memorial Cup feature

The $1.25-million Millard Ziadie Memorial Cup, an Overnight Allowance contest for three-year-olds and upward over 5 ½ furlongs (1,100m), is set to highlight tomorrow’s 10-race card at Caymanas Park.

A field of 14 talented runners will face the start, with
Unbelievable Force seemingly the one to lead home rivals.

Let’s take a closer look at each runner and their chances of winning.

1. GIRVANO (USA): (3 b c by Girvin – Summer in Midway) – Finished second behind Divine Force over 9 furlongs (1,800m) on May 10; expected to run another good race. Girvano’s performance over a longer distance suggests he has the stamina, but can he adapt to the shorter distance here? His trainer has done a good job preparing him, and he might just surprise with a strong run.

2. BENSON: (5 b h by Here Comes Ben – First Kiss) – No winning chance in this one. He’s been running consistently, but not convincingly enough to make an impact.

3. CALIFORNIA GOLD: (5 b h by Lion Tamer – Blue Saphira) – Winless from seven starts this season; unlikely to break the duck here. California Gold’s recent form hasn’t been encouraging, and it might be tough for him to get his head in front. He’s been struggling to find his form, and it’s unlikely he’ll suddenly turn it around.

4. FLORINDIA (USA): (4 dk b/br f by Gone Astray – Flaring) – American-bred runner making her local debut; has worked well and expected to run well. Her American breeding might give her an edge, and she’s worth keeping an eye on.

5. MAGNIFICENT FORCE (USA): (4 dk b/br f by Cloud Computing – Cocktail Cruise) – Likely to be left behind. It’s tough to see her making an impact.

6. MONEY MISER: (5 ch h by Soul Warrior – She’s Traditional) – Capable runner who prefers longer distances; might be outsped here. Money Miser has done well over longer distances, but the shorter distance might play against him. He’s a capable runner, but it’s unlikely he’ll be able to sustain the pace.

7. PERFECT BREW : (6 b g by Bern Identity – Moonlight Brew) – Finished third behind Unspun and Unbelievable Force on May 3; could run close again despite shorter distance. Perfect Brew’s recent form has been good, and he might just repeat his performance with a strong finish. He’s shown good speed and stamina, and he’s worth considering.

8. CHOCOMO (USA): (4 b c by Backtalk – Chocolate Chippi) – Good sprinter, but not expected to be a main contender. Chocomo’s speed might not be enough to overcome the stronger contenders.

9. TEFLON DON: (4 b c by Casual Trick – The Lady Scored) – Can be safely bypassed. It’s tough to see him making a difference.

10. FREEDOM STREET: (6 b g by Uncaptured – Nofashionsense) – Haven’t won in a while; might earn some money but unlikely to win. Freedom Street’s form has been inconsistent, and while he might earn some money, a win might be a stretch. He’s a capable runner, but it’s unlikely he’ll be able to overcome the stronger contenders.

11. IMPRESSIVE FORCE (USA): (4 b c by Klimt – Onebadkitty) – Won last time out, but not expected to repeat; should be in the money. Impressive Force’s recent win was impressive, but the competition is tougher here.

12. JOHNCROWJEFF: (7 b g by Natural Selection – Sweetyourock) – No form to recommend. Johncrowjeff’s form has been poor, and it’s unlikely he’ll feature prominently. He’s been struggling to find his footing, and it’s tough to see him making an impact.

13. UNBELIEVABLE FORCE (USA): (4 dk b/br f by McCraken – Debit or Credit) – Unlucky loser last time out when caught in the glass by Unspun over 6 furlongs on May 3. Unbelievable Force should be a comfortable winner here with better handling. Unbelievable Force has shown good form, and she’s the one to beat.

14. MONEY MARKET: (5 b h by Successful Native – Soca Dancer) – Speed merchant who is expected to play a prominent role and finish well.
