Christopher Taylor wins in return to the track from suspension
Jamaican track prodigy Christopher Taylor made a winning return to competition on Saturday, clocking an impressive 45.66 seconds at the JAAA World Athletics Championships Preparation Meet at the National Stadium.
The 26-year-old Taylor had been suspended for two years for evading, refusing or failing to submit a sample in 2023. His suspension ended May 15, 2025.
But despite considering quitting the sport after he was banned, Taylor made a quick return to the track and on Saturday won his 400m heat easily ahead of Lidio Feliz with 47.52.
Taylor, now at Titan Track Club, was the fastest of all the competitors, his 45.66 being quicker than the 45.72 done by Delano Kennedy of Uptimum Performance in Heat 1 and the 46.05 by Demish Gaye of Sprintec.
Taylor was one of Jamaica’s most promising 400m runners when, at 15 years old while attending Calabar High, he announced himself to the world by capturing Gold at the 2015 World Youth Championship in a Jamaican youth record 45.27, which still stands today.
Taylor’s 44.88 done at the 2018 Jamaica Senior National Championships is his personal best and a National Junior Record.
