King FA books semi-final spot in St Ann Major League
ST ANN, Jamaica- King FA booked their spot in the semi-finals of the St Ann Football Association Major League after a 5-2 win over previously unbeaten Richmond FC in their Zone A game played at Drax Hall on Sunday.
Nathan Whitehorn scored a late double for King FA as they took over the lead on nine points, two more than Richmond FC as both teams completed their first round schedule.
King FA are assured of their place in the semi-finals but Richmond FC, who led for most of the season, could be passed on goal-difference by Exchange United if United beat Dry Harbour FC by at least two goals in their final group game on Tuesday.
King FA, last season’s Division One champions, raced to a 3-0 lead thanks to goals from Daniel Reid in the second minute, Antonio Mitchell in the 14th minute and Kawayne McInnis in the 38th minute.
Richmond FC rallied with two goals from Segaye Oakley in the 48th minute and Akeem Davies in the 71st minute to cut the deficit to one goal at 3-2.
Whitehorn however scored for King FA, in the 73rd and 81st minutes to ensure the win.
In the first game of the double header, Ceejay Gibbs scored a double for Lewis Youth Club in their 2-1 come from behind win over Higgins Town in their Zone B game.
Alrick McCalla gave Higgin Town the lead after just four minutes and they led until the 34th minute when Gibbs scored the first of his brace to level the scores.
Gibbs, who took his tally to six goals, then handed Lewis Youth Club the winner in the 64th minute.
