Angels Estate 2 Citizens’ Association gives back to Strathmore Gardens Children’s Home
THE Angels Estate 2 Citizens’ Association marked Child Month 2025 by donating essential items to Strathmore Gardens Children’s Home in Spanish Town, St Catherine. The donation was made on Sunday, May 18.
Strathmore Gardens Children’s Home, located just minutes away from Angels 2, provides a haven for children in need of care and protection. The Angels Estate 2 community came together in a show of unity and empathy — residents contributed a wide array of supplies including toiletries, food items, and school essentials. The project also received valued support from corporate partner GraceKennedy and Water Wagon who supplemented the community’s efforts with additional donations.
Patrina C Nelson, president of the Angels Estate 2 Citizens’ Association, shared that when a citizens association is active and engaged, it transforms more than the neighbourhood — it changes lives.
“This donation is not just about items; it’s about recognising the humanity in each child and showing them that they are seen, valued, and supported. We believe real change in Jamaica begins on the community level — one neighbourhood at a time,” Nelson said.
Founded to foster unity and safety within Angels Estate 2, the association has grown into a dynamic and solution-oriented organisation. Through advocacy, volunteerism, and resident-driven projects, it has helped to nurture a sense of belonging and purpose among its members — from retirees and working professionals to families and youth. This Child Month outreach is one such project that reflects the association’s broader mission.
“I am truly proud to be a part of a community that acknowledges the needs of children and chooses to act,” added Nelson. “The success of this initiative belongs to every resident who gave, every volunteer who sorted items, and every neighbour who showed up with heart. It proves that we can do more — and we must do more — for those around us.”
The Angels 2 Citizens’ Association hopes their act of giving will inspire other communities across Jamaica to think beyond their gates and embrace the spirit of service and solidarity.
