Two leading contenders for the prestigious three-year-old colts and geldings Classic, the 2000 Guineas, will not compete due to injury.

Honour Prince and Prolific Prince, both highly anticipated entrants, have suffered setbacks ahead of the race, scheduled for Sunday, June 8, 2025.

Honour Prince, victorious in the seven-furlong Prince Consort Stakes and the seven-and-a-half-furlong The Kingston, has sustained a right knee injury requiring surgery. His trainer Robert Pearson confirmed the unfortunate development, stating, “The sad truth is Honour Prince has injured his right knee, necessitating surgery. This will sideline him for the 2000 Guineas and keep him off the track for some time.”

Adding to the disappointment, Prolific Prince, fresh off a win at non-two on May 24, has also suffered an injury, ruling him out of contention for the 2000 Guineas.

Honour Prince and Prolific Prince have joined another pre-race favourite, Runaway Star, the disqualified first by the post in The Kingston, as non-starters in the 2000 Guineas.

These unexpected withdrawals will undoubtedly reshape the dynamics of the upcoming Classic.
