Man accused of forcibly removing sister from her marital home
MONTEGO BAY, St James — Kevoy Washington appeared before the St James Parish Court on Wednesday, charged with assault occasioning bodily harm following an incident in which he allegedly beat his sister during a forced removal from her matrimonial home.
According to court documents, the complainant and her husband, who reside in Lethe, Hanover, were experiencing marital issues. The husband reportedly contacted the complainant’s mother, and the matter appeared to have been resolved.
However, on March 27, the complainant’s mother, accompanied by Washington, travelled to Hanover. According to reports, the mother told the complainant she had come to take her home. In response, the complainant asserted that she was not a minor and, under the law, could not be taken against her will. Despite this, the mother was not satisfied and chose to remain at the premises.
The complainant went for a walk, but upon her return approximately three hours later, both her mother and brother were still present.
At that point, according to the allegations, both parties pursued the complainant. Washington allegedly grabbed her arm, and together with his mother, they physically forced her into the car they had driven there. The complainant claimed she was beaten, had her neck grabbed, and was pushed into the car, where her mother reportedly held onto her hair throughout the journey to Barrett Town, St James.
Upon arrival at her mother’s house, the complainant reportedly jumped over a wall and contacted the police.
Washington was later arrested and charged in connection with the incident.
