Prince hungry for more success after impressive triple at Caymanas Park
Trainer Adrian Prince says he is hungry for more success at Caymanas Park after capturing the second triple of his career at the Gregory Park-based racetrack. The young trainer, who graduated from the Jamaica Racing Commission’s Trainers’ Training Programme on May 12, 2023, continues to make waves this season. His latest triple, achieved last Saturday, is a clear sign of his rapid rise and growing impact in the local racing fraternity.
Prince, the son of veteran conditioner Tyrone Prince, has emerged as one of the standout performers of the current season. He is now fourth in the trainers’ championship with 16 winners and over $10 million in stakes earnings.
“It is a great feeling winning three races in one day,” said Prince. “But I have been putting in the hard work and you know at some point in time, the hard work will pay off. I have a good team working with me, and I am getting the support from the owners, which is very good. My grooms are dedicated to their craft each and every day.”
For Prince, the recent triple is not just a personal milestone but a motivator for what lies ahead.
“Going forward, I wish to have more days like that and even better by winning three races or more in one day. This will certainly push me to come out earlier in the mornings, put in 110 per cent and go harder and harder to maintain this success,” he said.
Despite facing some recent setbacks, including the injury loss of his promising filly Prolific Prince, who he was preparing for the 2000 Guineas, Prince remains undeterred.
“Right now, my barn is kind of on the down low. I lost Prolific Prince and a couple of claimers as well, so I have to go back to the drawing board, rebuild and restructure. But the aim remains the same which is to win a good number of races and maintain my position in the top 10.”
Prince also credits his strong support system, both at home and at the track, for keeping him grounded and focused.
“As a second-generation trainer, I have been getting a lot of respect from other trainers. I also have a lot of friends here who are pushing me and motivating me to do good and to stay on the right path to becoming a great trainer.”
