Rivaldo Marshall reinstated, books NCAA spot in 800m
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Former NCAA indoor champion Rivaldo Marshall of the University of Arkansas, who won an appeal against his disqualification in the first round of the men’s 800m at the NCAA West Regionals at Texas A&M University, was one of three Jamaican men who qualified for the NCAA National Championships on Thursday.
Marshall, who won the indoor title last year while he attended the University of Iowa, was disqualified in Wednesday’s first round for what meet officials said was an “obstruction” but had the disqualification overturned on appeal and qualified for the national championships to be held at Hayward Field, Eugene, Oregon next month after he finished fourth overall in the second round on Friday.
