Roman secured seven victories over Labour Day weekend at Caymanas Park
Champion jockey Raddesh Roman continued his red-hot streak at Caymanas Park over the Labour Day weekend last week, capping off a sensational run with a dazzling four-win haul on Saturday. His total of seven victories across the two-meet span included a standout performance aboard Unbelievable Force in the Millard Ziadie Memorial, contested over five and a half furlongs on Saturday.
After narrowly missing out in Friday’s Labour Day Trophy aboard Major Danger, another speedster from the Philip Feanny barn, Roman returned with intent and precision on Saturday. This time, he made no mistake piloting the fleet-footed Unbelievable Force, a four-year-old American-bred filly, to an emphatic win as the 4-5 favourite.
Exploding from the outermost post position like a bullet, Unbelievable Force wasted no time in asserting dominance. She effortlessly swept past early contenders Benson and the debuting Florindia within the opening furlong. Pressed briefly by seasoned competitor Money Market at the top of the stretch, the filly shrugged off the pressure with a blistering turn of foot, pulling away under 126 pounds to clock an impressive 1:06.3.
The victory marked Roman’s third on the day and contributed to a memorable afternoon for trainer Philip Feanny and the ACK Stable, whose imported runners, many with ‘Force’ in their names, continue to make waves.
Roman was also instrumental in helping trainer Adrian Prince achieve a career milestone, guiding home two of his three winners.
The day also saw success for other connections. Patrick Lynch notched a double, with Roman riding lion charmer to victory in the sixth after Demar Williams steered pineapple to a win in the fourth. Williams himself enjoyed a double, later scoring with medal award at 7-1 odds in the eighth.
Former champion jockey Dane Dawkins made an early statement with wins aboard Margarita and So Beautiful, it was Roman who stole the spotlight. With his recent form, the reigning champion jockey appears well on track to defend his title with authority.
