Sibby Liv toasts All Spice World Dance
Newly signed with United Masters, Jamaican-American artiste, producer and DJ Sibby Liv will be hosting All Spice World Dance, an event aimed at uniting global sounds.
It is slated for Roots Picnic in Philadelphia on Sunday, June 1.
“All Spice World Dance will feature a lineup of dancers and DJs — DJ Stagga, DJ Freshy K and dancers Amina Nefertari & Bri On Point — with a headline performance by Sibby Liv and special guest appearance by Nailah Blackman. It’s a fusion of culture, movement, and music from across the Caribbean, Africa, and beyond,” she told the Jamaica Observer.
Sibby Liv has cultivated experiences for major events such as Fenty, IKEA, Red Bull, Shopify, Live Nation Urban, Snipes, Bambuser, Rolling Loud, Jerk X Jollof, Seeing Sounds Festival and Adidas.
The creative’s mother grew up between Harbour View in St Andrew and Bridgeport, St Catherine while her father is from Arnett Gardens.
She explained that her Jamaican lineage has contributed significantly to moulding her.
“My Jamaican roots gave me the confidence and work ethic to thrive in every space she’s passionate about. The cultural upbringing taught me to be fearless and unapologetically myself in the way I created and show up professionally. Even though I was born in the States, I was raised on dancehall, patois, Jamaican values, and all the little things that make the culture what it is. It’s a big part of who I am and how I show up in the world,” she said.
In the meantime, there are several Jamaican collaborations in the works which she hopes will further nurtured Jamaica’s cultural and creative industries on a global scale.
“I am currently working with Jamaican creatives like Amanda Fallon and is always open to building with more artistes, dancers, and producers from the island. It’s important that the culture is represented with care and intention, whether through music, visuals, or live experiences,” Sibby Liv said.
