VM Wealth partners with Dequity Capital to fuel private equity growth
VM Wealth Management Limited has entered into a strategic partnership with private equity firm Dequity Capital Management Limited.
Under the terms of the new agreement VM Wealth will serve as Dequity’s financial advisor and brokerage partner. It will also support upcoming capital raises to fund investments in high-growth businesses. The arrangement is also intended to support longer-term goals, including potential public listings and regional expansion.
The partnership brings together VM Wealth’s deep expertise in capital markets and financial structuring with Dequity’s focus on scaling entrepreneurial ventures across key sectors such as financial services, health care, real estate, and technology.
“This partnership with VM Wealth marks a significant milestone for Dequity,” said Dequity Capital’s founder and CEO Kadeen Mairs. “In private equity, continuous capital raising — whether in the form of debt or equity — is critical. VM Wealth’s expertise enhances our ability to access the right capital at the right time and better position our portfolio companies for long-term success.”
Now in its fifth year of operation, Dequity Capital currently manages more than US$45 million in assets. Its portfolio includes investments in companies such as Dolla Financial Services, Pinnacle Insurance Brokers, MDLink, Royale Medical, Johnston Development Group, and Winchester Medical and Surgical among others. Established to support entrepreneurial ventures across the Caribbean, the firm primarily focuses on acquiring minority stakes in promising businesses to accelerate their growth. The company’s board is chaired by prominent economist Dr Damien King.
Mairs, in underscoring the alignment between the two firms, pointed to their shared belief in entrepreneurship as a driver of economic transformation.
“Both organisations are united in their mission to identify and empower visionary entrepreneurs, not merely with capital but with the strategic insight necessary to scale innovative enterprises that create value for investors and society alike,” he said.
Romario Sterling, manager of capital markets at VM Wealth commented on the strategic fit of the partnership.
“Our role as financial advisors to Dequity aligns well with our private equity strategy. Dequity needs funding to grow and to manage its portfolio, and we are happy to support with that. Our value proposition, and what we are passionate about, is providing capital to emerging businesses to unlock their full potential. That not only delivers solid returns for investors but is also good for the economy.”
“While VM is focused on generating returns, we are also big on nation-building. We believe emerging businesses, especially those operating in the private equity space, need all the help they can get to transform the country and the business landscape,” he added.
With its extensive investor network VM Wealth said it is prepared to provide additional equity support for its newest client. The partnership reflects a shared commitment to driving economic development, enhancing financial inclusion, and building a stronger pipeline of investable businesses. This includes fostering local ownership and deepening the impact of private equity across the region.
“As we prepare for our next phase of growth VM Wealth will play a critical role,” Dequity’s management stated. “With strong institutional backing we’re doubling down on our mission to support bold entrepreneurial ventures that are shaping the future of Caribbean business.”
