WATCH: Man mobbed after attacking taxi operator in Mandeville park
MANCHESTER, Jamaica — A man was mobbed after he allegedly attacked a taxi operator with an iron pipe at the Nashville bus park in Mandeville on Tuesday.
The incident unfolded at about 10:30 am.
An eyewitness said he ran to the Mandeville Police Station and informed cops that a man was threatening to attack taxi operators and commuters at the bus park.
“I was in the bus park and I saw the man come in the park and ask where is the bus that going to Spanish Town. He came in there in an aggressive way, so I don’t answer him,” he said.
“I see him pop out a knife and approached a woman saying ‘a bet I kill you’, so I walked off and went to the station to lodge a report,” he added.
While the citizen was making his way to the police station, it is alleged that the man attacked the taxi operator, hitting him in the head with the iron pipe.
The taxi operator’s colleagues then reportedly mobbed the man, beating him multiple times.
A police source said when cops responded, warning shots were fired to disperse a crowd and de-escalate the situation.
Both injured men were taken to the hospital for treatment.
