INSPORTS hails Devon Biscuits for fostering youth development
INSPORTS Acting Executive Director George Ledgister has hailed the participation of Devon Biscuits as the title sponsor for its Primary Athletics Championships.
INSPORTS/Devon Biscuits All-Island Primary Schools Athletics Championships came to an end on May 31 with the staging of the national championships at the National Stadium in Kingston.
Lyssons Primary from St Thomas emerged victorious, taking first place.
“This year’s staging was really good, and we really do appreciate the effort and the help that Devon Biscuits has put into the event. We’re looking for bigger and better things next year,” Ledgister said in a media release. “Over 100 primary schools participated, with more than 2,000 athletes. This was the third year that Devon Biscuits partnered with us, and they have really helped to promote the event. We do appreciate what they have done.”
Lyssons Primary Head Coach Lesia Dennis Jackson also hailed Devon Biscuits for its efforts in promoting youth excellence in sports.
“I’m feeling elated by our win, and I must commend my coaches,” she said. “They did an extremely good job working with the kids. We found our team strategy and ensured that the athletes were motivated.
“Devon Biscuits has been doing an amazing job, and I would encourage them to continue investing in the future of the stars of tomorrow.”
Devon Biscuits Brand Manager Sherene Bryan says the partnership with the meet has allowed her company to directly engage with its core demographic.
“Over the past three years the association with the primary champs has provided Devon Biscuits with a platform to engage directly with young audiences,” she said. “The partnership has helped to reinforce our position as a brand that is committed to fostering youth development while aligning with youth development and sporting excellence.”
Devon Biscuits invested more than $21 million into the staging of the event over the past three years. The company also provided cash prizes to the winning schools, as well as to the top boy and top girl at both the regional and grand finals.
“We have prided ourselves as the brand that supports, encourages, and protects the sustainability of institutions that hold youth development at the forefront,” Bryan said.
