Woman to stand trial in $10 million shopping scam case
KINGSTON, Jamaica — A young woman will have to go to trial regarding her part in a $10 million fraud case after appearing in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on Tuesday.
Xavia Reece appeared before Senior Parish Judge Sanchia Burrell on charges of conspiring to defraud, receiving stolen property and unlawfully making available a device for the commission of an offence.
The prosecution alleges that Reece was involved in a scam where purchases were made from sites including Shein and false chargebacks then initiated from a local bank.
The loss totalled around $10 million.
Reece was the only of the three accused who was present in court on Tuesday. A bench warrant has been issued for Romain Meredith and another co-accused.
The trial is set to begin on December 1, 2025 in the parish court.
