Racers Grand Prix: Tina Clayton runs first sub-11 in three years to win 100m
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Two-time World Under-20 100m champion Tina Clayton ran a season’s best 10.98 seconds (1.8m/s) to win the women’s 100m event at the Racers Grand Prix held at the National Stadium on Saturday.
It was Tina’s first sub-11.00 seconds clocking since 2022 when she won the second of her World Under-20 titles and puts her in a five-way tie for sixth in the world this year.
American Jacious Sears was second in 11.04 seconds and 2024 World Under-20 champion Alana Reid was third in 11.16 seconds, both season’s best times.
Tia Clayton, the Olympic finalist, challenged for a top three place before pulling up just before the finish line, finishing fifth with 11.24 seconds.
In the B race, Jonielle Smith ran a season’s best 11.10 seconds (1.7m/s) to win, ahead of Kasheika Cameron who ran a season’s best 11.33 seconds with Lacovia High school girl Sabrina Dockery third in 11.34 seconds.
