Teen slapped with multiple firearm-related charges
KINGSTON, Jamaica — A 17-year-old boy, alleged to be one of two suspects involved in the shooting of a woman during an attempted robbery on Deanery Road in St Andrew last Sunday, has been hit with several firearm-related charges stemming from the incident.
The teen, who cannot be identified, is charged with wounding with intent, conspiracy to wound with intent, using a firearm to commit a felony, unauthorised possession of a firearm and unauthorised possession of ammunition.
Reports from the Elletson Road police are that about 2:28 am, the teen and his accomplice, armed with handguns, approached a woman who was in the process of reversing a motor car and demanded her property. The woman reportedly refused and drove off, and the two allegedly opened fire, hitting her.
She, however, managed to drive to the hospital, where she was treated and released.
A report was made to the police and the teenager was held on Thursday, June 5 and subsequently charged on Friday, June 6.
His court date has not been finalised.
