Audrey Marks tipped to replace Shaw in Manchester North East
MANCHESTER, Jamaica — Following months of speculation and unease in the Jamaica Labour Party’s (JLP) replacement of long-standing Member of Parliament for Manchester North East, Audley Shaw, it appears that Senator Ambassador Audrey Marks will be formally named as his successor to contest the next parliamentary election.
The suggestion came following a post on Prime Minister Dr Andrew Holness’ social media platforms on Tuesday with the caption “teamwork makes the dream work” under a photo with Ambassador Marks, Holness, Craighead Councillor Omar Miller, JLP General Secretary Dr Horace Chang and Miller’s spouse Teka Smith.
Miller was previously endorsed by Shaw as his choice for successor in the constituency. However, there was tension with educator and former JLP candidate Hidran McKulsky also expressing an interest in the seat.

The People’s National Party’s Valenton ‘Val’ Wint, who has thrice lost his bids in parliamentary elections, is expected to be the party’s candidate again in the constituency at the next election.
