Rivaldo Marshall takes third in 800m in final college race
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Rivaldo Marshall of the University of Arkansas ended his college career with a gutsy third-place finish after clocking 1:46.71 seconds in the men’s 800m on Friday’s third day of the NCAA Division 1 outdoor championships at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon.
Marshall had won the NCAA indoor title last year when he was attending the University of Iowa and battled his way down the home stretch to get a top-three finish.
His teammate Tyrice Taylor was eighth in 1:47.44 seconds.
Luke Brown of the University of Kentucky was fourth in the men’s triple jump with 16.18 m (0.5 m/s), while Safin Wills of the University of Oregon, who fouled all three jumps in the long jump, finished seventh in the triple jump with 16.07 m (0.5 m/s).
Demario Prince of Baylor University was fifth in the 110m hurdles, running 13.44 seconds (0.1 m/s), while Jaheim Stern of Louisiana State was seventh with 13.57 seconds.
