Minister Kevin Heath joins Jesus All the Way fund-raiser line-up

Minister and gospel recording artiste Kevin Heath says that any opportunity to spread the message of the Lord he is on board.

Heath, who gave his life to Christ more than 20 years ago, is the latest addition to the fund-raising gospel concert Jesus All the Way, which is scheduled to take place on Sunday, June 29 at Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre.

“Every opportunity to minister and present God and the good news of Jesus to the people I am always ready to make use of it. When I got the call it was an instant yes,” Heath told the Jamaica Observer on Friday.

Blending theatrical worship, interwoven ministry, and classical interludes, this soul-stirring charity concert, hosted by the Jamaica Seventh-day Baptist Conference Inc, is not just a concert, it is a national call to rebuild, to worship, and to give.

Proceeds will support a $5-million campaign to restore the conference’s historic headquarters at 29 Charles Street, Kingston, transforming it into a hub for worship, youth empowerment, counselling, and outreach.

He said that the transformation of the headquarters is important for nation-building.

“It serves as a key venue for all major meetings and for discussions which symbolise the commitment to fellowship and togetherness and cooperation and growth and development of a people and the community at large,” said Heath.

Previously confirmed performers for the Jesus All the Way concert include Kevin Downswell, Rhoda Isabella, Alicia Taylor, and Nadine Blair & Perpetual Sounds of Praise.

Heath, who is originally from St Elizabeth, shared that his journey as a born-again Christian has been humbling but challenging.

“Yes, there have been challenges along the way. I met in a [three-vehicle collision] in 2003 and the recovery process was an interesting yet long one, with my arm broken and fractured ribs. I almost lost my eye. It was also a time of retrospection,” said Heath, who explained that he also ended up living on the streets for a short period. “Due to my parents’ unsettled disagreements, I ended up on the road. I am now stronger and wiser, and I know, understand, and appreciate and love people on a different level.”

Heath relocated to the Cayman Islands for 12 and a half years. He participated in and won the country’s Gospel Song competition with the track True Friend. In 2013 he was named gospel artiste of the year. He returned to Jamaica in 2016 and now resides in St Catherine.

The recipient of several gospel music nominations, Heath said the recognition signifies that lives are being impacted positively and that the acknowledgement of God is evident.

Among his better-known songs are I’m Above, Can’t Stop Purpose, Cover Me featuring Jermaine Edwards, True Friend, Watch the Finish, Lord You Know, and My Redeemer.

His most recent single Golden Light was released in February. However, he has new music on the way.
