Happy 80th anniversary, Percy Junor Hospital !
Dear Editor,
This year, 2025, marks 80 years since Percy Junor Hospital (PJH) in Spalding, Clarendon, opened its doors to provide patients with quality health-care services.
The hospital is like a home that provides care that never quits. As someone who has been receiving routine medical care at this public health facility for close to 30 years, I can attest to the excellent and competent cadre of health-care practitioners working there. Despite constraints with resources, the team stands out among the best in Jamaica and the Caribbean.
Health-care delivery at this facility is built on compassion, empathy, and respect for the common man. The staff treats patients like family. I can identify with so many people like myself with serious chronic medical ailments who gained a second chance at life as a result of the competence, care, and professionalism of the staff at PJH. It would be remiss of me not to take the time to pay tribute to this amazing team.
Congratulations on your 80th anniversary, and cheers to continued high-class delivery of health care. Continue to serve with love, compassion, and care!
Kudos to the team leaders — CEO Carlton Nichols, Senior Medical Officer Dr Carlos Wilson, Matron Jacquline Pennecoke, and Senior Psychiatrist Dr Hope Iballaboh — for motivating and inspiring the general staff to not only provide quality service but to serve with love, compassion, and care.
