Atkinson starts against Guadeloupe in Gold Cup
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Cavalier SC’s Dwayne Atkinson has been named in the Jamaican starting team to face Guadeloupe in their crucial Concacaf Gold Cup Group C game in San Jose, California on Friday.
Head coach Steve McClaren made two changes, replacing Renaldo Cephas and Damion Lowe from the team that were beaten 1-0 in Guatemala in their opening game on Monday.
Lowe was subbed off late on Monday with what looked to be an injury and is being replaced by wing back Dexter Lembikisa, while Atkinson comes in for Cephas who was named on the bench.
Warner Brown retained his starting place along with Leon Bailey and Demarai Gray in attack while Richard King, Ethan Pinnock and Amari’i Bell are part of the defence.
Both Jamaica and Guadeloupe will be seeking their first win of the tournament after both lost their opening games.
