Henry feeling motivated after riding first double at Caymanas Park
Apprentice Richard Henry was all smiles on Sunday after securing the first riding double of his career at Caymanas Park since he began race riding in 2019.
The young jockey guided Linstead Market to victory in the fourth race before returning to land the eighth event aboard Lucky Papa, marking a memorable day in his riding journey.
“It is a really exciting feeling for me today, my first double as an apprentice since 2019,” he said with visible delight. “I have won 32 races in my career so far and these two victories will give me more confidence going forward.”
Now with five wins for the year, the apprentice is showing steady growth in the saddle and says the feedback from the racing fraternity has been encouraging.
“I know that I have been improving a lot in the saddle because people all around, punters and trainers, have been telling me that I have been improving a lot. I am just going to continue working hard because every morning, I get up very early and I come to work,” he added.
With eyes set on greater success in the months ahead, he remains focused on building his momentum.
“The aim is to keep on doing good and try to win as many races as possible for the rest of this year,” he added.
Henry pointed out that his motivation comes from deep family roots in the sport.
“It is my mother’s dream, my grandmother’s dream, and my uncle’s dream to win a lot of races here. I was born in racing and I am going to continue to make them proud of me.”
