Popcaan, Notnice collab for Lifestyle Moment
After six years, dancehall artiste Popcaan and popular producer Notnice have collaborated on a track titled Lifestyle Moment. Notnice told the Jamaica Observer that his experience working with the Unruly Boss was as favourable as it was when they first started in 2008.
“Everything was put together well. The rhythm [is] nice; the song, the melodies and lyrics are also really good. I wouldn’t take something specific from it to say it’s my favourite. It’s uplifting, also. It’s a celebratory vibe reflecting on the good times of friends and family celebrating,” the producer said.
The track also sees credits from Popcaan’s very own Unruly Entertainment.
Adding that the blueprint for the song has been in the making, Notnice said that the practical aspects were completed in minimal time.
“I spoke to Popcaan from the Vybz Kartel show in New York and he told me of the idea [that] he had. An’ mi just go home and mek the rhythm and send it to him, an’ him seh fi link up when him come to Jamaica because he was away. We hit the studio and it never really took any time to be completed. It’s been mixed and everything, but he was working on his album, so I wasn’t sure if he was ready to drop the song as yet,” he said.
Popcaan is set to headline the Streetz Festival at the National Stadium on August 30. The entertainer will perform a full set with his band. This includes over a decade of hits, among them
Ova Dweet, Only Man She Want, and more.
Meanwhile, Notnice, who is renowned in the dancehall arena, hopes that Lifestyle Moment will be revered this summer, especially since it has family-friendly lyrics.
He explained that his longevity as a producer is with understanding the intricacies of production.
“It’s just about understanding the artiste dem and understanding their style; making rhythms that fit their style and sometimes taking them out of their comfort zone. It goes even beyond production because after the song is recorded, we play different instruments around the vocals,” he said.
Notnice has four other songs in the pipeline.
