Arena Polo anyone?
If you are a lover of both athleticism and equine elegance, arena polo will become your new obsession. Brace yourself for heart-stopping action! Arena Polo isn’t just a game, it’s an experience that will have you on the edge of your seat from the first chukker to the last.
Initially developed with the intent of making the game of polo more accessible to everyone, Arena Polo is an indoor or semi-outdoor variant of outdoor grass polo with similar rules, that is played with three players per team instead of four. The playing field is also smaller in size, approx. 300ft x 150 ft max and usually enclosed with the playing surface made of compacted sand or fine aggregate. It is also more fan friendly, because of the smaller size of the field, making it easier for spectators to get engaged.
The very popular Beach Polo and Snow Polo are variants of arena polo on different surfaces. Some of the most popular Beach polo events are played in Miami, Singapore and in UK, and Snow Polo in Aspen, St. Moritz and Kitzbuhel.
Unlike regular polo where a plastic ball is used, the ball used for arena polo resembles a mini soccer ball, for the night polo the ball will be neon to enable players to see better.
Polo being played under the lights is done at the arena size, because of having to install temporary lights to floodlight the field of play. This is the first time that polo will be played under the lights in Kingston. So brace yourself for fast, furious and unpredictable.
