National Trials 2025: Holmwood go 1-2 in girls U18 and U20 400m
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Holmwood Technical took the gold and silver medals in both the Under-18 and Under-20 girls 400m finals on Sunday’s final day of the JAAA National Junior Championships at the national stadium.
Abrina Wright won the Under-20 final, running 53.62 seconds ahead of teammate Kristen Herbert, 54.84 seconds, with Davine Dickenson of Immaculate Conception third with 55.19 seconds.
Maddison Campbell led a Holmwood Technical 1-2 in the Under-18 girls final, winning in 54.42 seconds after coming from behind late in the race. Her teammate Annastacia Hall was second in 54.55 seconds while William Knibb Memorial’s Daniellia Dixon was third with 54.81 seconds.
Three runners dipped under 47.00 seconds in the boys Under-20 finals with Jamaica College’s Omary Robinson winning with an impressive 46.41 seconds. Mona High’s Kevin Bliss was second with 46.54 seconds while Sawayne Kerr of St Elizabeth Technical was third in 46.86 seconds.
Kingston College’s Jason Pitter ran a personal best 46.99 seconds to win the Under-18 boys final, getting to the finish line comfortably ahead of Nishawn Walker, who was second in 47.70 seconds. Holmwood Technical’s Tiandre Downer ran 48.62 seconds for third, less than an hour after he ran the 800m final.
