Osujah Records CEO drops ‘Life A Di Greatest’ compilation
Chief Executive Officer at Osujah Records, Donna Burnett is very proud of her latest compilation, the ‘Life A Di Greatest’ rhythm which features contributions from a host of well-known reggae artistes.
The compilation features contributions from Luciano, Elsa Green from Black Uhuru, Nature Ellis, Anaicon, Gaza Kim, Ras Pree Dem, Fyah Kush, Papa Crock and Lady Donna who delivers the title track.
“There has been a very positive feedback on the project from music critics and the fans. I have received the response of a lifting of the spirits from some, as well as a connecting of the music with the soul,” said Burnett.
According to music critics, the standout tracks so far are Gaza Kim’s ‘Gonna Be a Good Day’, Lady Donna’s ‘Life ah Di Greatest Ting’ and Luciano’s All We Need is Love’.
Burnett said she was inspired to conceptualise the project to trigger a spiritual healing given the rash of armed international conflicts and environmental degradation that the world is undergoing at this time.
“The inspiration for this project came from my observation of the disregard for, and the apathy toward life. This is evidenced by the high number of killings, deforestation, wars, destruction, etc., coupled with the promotion of the artificial or manmade, as opposed to the natural,” Burnett explained.
The rhythm project will be officially released on July 10.
“Everybody is saying that the most popular track, it goes without saying, is Luciano’s ‘All We Need Is Love’ and I am truly honored to have his participation on this project for Osujah Records,” Burnett said.
The name Osujah comes from the Hebrew name Oshea in the Bible and means help. Oshea, son of Nun, was changed by Moses to Yehoshua, meaning help of Yahweh, with the English translation being Joshua.
Joshua scrambled produced Osujah, which can be interpreted divine help, Burnett explained.
“My biggest challenge as a producer is bringing the vision to life which requires the right balance between the artiste and resources,” she noted.
She thanked musical director Tin Man who helped with shooting videos, her husband Dadda Berg, the ‘executioner’ of the project, her ‘detail-oriented’ son, Sarge for his contributions, and project coordinator BillyJoe Media who assisted to make the project a reality.
