As education evolves, many teachers have begun to recognise the value of incorporating creativity into their lessons to better engage students and address their diverse needs.

Today’s classrooms are increasingly shifting from traditional teaching styles to approaches that prioritise how students learn best. The transition to online learning has significantly influenced this change, highlighting various challenges students face, including social, emotional, and academic difficulties.

To effectively address these challenges, teachers must foster creativity and inclusion in their classrooms. Here are several strategies to implement these principles:

1) Creating a welcoming environment: Students must feel safe and supported in their learning environments. Establishing clear and achievable goals and promoting a culture of politeness, respect, and discipline are essential. Teachers should model positive behaviour and encourage respect for diverse opinions.

2) Incorporating culturally relevant content: Engagement increases when students can relate to their learning materials. Adapting lessons to reflect the diverse cultures and backgrounds of students is vital. Employing various teaching methods — such as stories, art, history, and music that align with students’ experiences — can enhance relatability and enjoyment in the learning process.

3) Building partnerships with families and the community: Education extends beyond the classroom; it encompasses various settings. Involving parents and the wider community in the educational process is crucial. Their insights can help identify gaps in education and establish effective learning goals. This collaborative effort emphasises that improving education is a shared responsibility.

Additionally, teachers need to demonstrate genuine care for their students as individuals. Understanding each student’s unique background, learning style, and aspirations fosters open communication among teachers, students, and families. This inclusive approach not only enhances the classroom atmosphere but also contributes to a fairer education system for all.
