Disappointing!
Dear Editor,
I write to express my deep concern and disappointment regarding the recent use of foul language by the Jamaica Labour Party’s (JLP) Everald Warmington on a political platform.
Such behaviour is unbecoming and vulgar. He has taken the discourse to the bottom of the barrel. Regardless of political affiliation, Jamaicans deserve leaders who demonstrate decorum, respect, and maturity — especially in public forums. Resorting to profanity not only degrades the tone of our political discourse, but it also sets a poor example for our youth and undermines public confidence in our institutions.
Our leaders must be held to a higher standard. Political platforms should be spaces for the respectful exchange of ideas, not arenas for vulgarity and disrespect. We call on the prime minister and the leadership of the JLP to publicly address this incident and reinforce the party’s commitment to civility and accountability in public life.
If Jamaica is to move forward as a just and unified society, then integrity and respect must be non-negotiable values — especially among those who serve.
