Bradley Stewart appointed as head coach of Spanish Town Police FC
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Veteran coach Bradley Stewart has been appointed head coach of the newly promoted Premier League team, Spanish Town Police FC, for the upcoming season.
“He possesses a vast amount of football knowledge, which will assist in elevating our players as they enter this new chapter of their footballing careers,” said Spanish Town Police FC on the appointment.
Stewart, who was Jamaica’s senior Reggae Boyz assistant coach under Theodore Whitmore and head coach of the Reggae Girlz, has coached almost every Premier League team in the country.
The outspoken Stewart previously coached Jamaica’s Under-19 team between 1979-84 and was appointed assistant coach to Whitmore in 2008 before they fell out in 2011.
He also coached at Arnett Gardens, August Town, Duhaney Park, Los Perfectos, Reno, Rivoli United, Hazard United, Jamaica College and Calabar High, to name a few.
Spanish Town Police FC, which was formed in 1977 to get the youths off the streets, gained promotion to the Jamaican Premier League for the first time this year. The club defeated Falmouth FC 5-4 on penalties after the two-legged tie ended 1-1 on aggregate on Saturday, May 10.
