Another major pipeline break on Coral Gardens main road
ST JAMES, Jamaica — A major pipeline break on the Coral Gardens main road in St James has again impacted businesses and residents in the area.
The break, which occurred sometime Thursday night, is at the same spot where the water main burst in May 2024, leading to similar challenges.
It is uncertain what led to this break; however, water so far has flowed unimpeded into nearby properties, with at least three car mart businesses now inundated with copious amounts of the precious resource.
The National Water Commission (NWC) has since activated its teams to address the situation, and the line is now closed at points, leaving individuals in the area without water.
The damaged water main is in the vicinity of the Coral Gardens Police Station, where traffic is now being directed to one side of the dual carriageway.
The incident has resulted in a build-up of traffic in the area.
