UPDATE: Cops wounded after ‘accidental discharge’ of sergeant’s gun
ST CATHERINE, Jamaica — Two policemen were wounded when one of their service pistols was reportedly accidentally discharged at the Central Village Police Station in St Catherine.
According to officials from the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF), a police sergeant was cleaning his firearm when a round was accidentally discharged, injuring himself and another cop on duty.
The discharged round hit the sergeant in his arm and ricocheted, hitting the other cop in the abdomen, the police said.
The incident happened sometime between Thursday night and Friday morning.
Both lawmen are being treated at the Spanish Town Hospital.
