He has ‘Dunn’ enough
Diehard Labourite says sitting MP has earned a third term
ANNOTTO BAY, St Mary — Citing upgrades to Annotto Bay and Belfield clinics and the recent opening of the rehabilitated fire station, also in Annotto Bay, Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) supporter Charlene Hayles is adamant that sitting Member of Parliament (MP) for St Mary South Eastern Dr Norman Dunn has done enough to convince voters to elect him for another term.
Hayles, a resident of the Annotto Bay Division in the constituency, told the Jamaica Observer that the work Dunn has put in since his victory in a by-election in 2017 is clear for everyone to see.
“Dr Dunn works: See there we get a brand new fire station, he fixed the sea wall so the water doesn’t flood out people when the sea comes in,” said Hayles as she pointed to major projects done by the Government of Prime Minister Dr Andrew Holness in the constituency.
According to Hayles, under the JLP Administration the clinics in the constituency are also in better condition than before.
“He fixed up the Annotto Bay clinic and the Belfield clinic so nobody has to wait long, and the place nice,” added the the diehard Labourite as she argued that Dunn has achieved more in the constituency than any previous MP.
“What him do, no MP nuh do fi we, whether dem a PNP (People’s National Party) or JLP,” charged the animated Labourite.
She scoffed at claims that PNP caretaker Christopher Brown is gaining traction on the ground and is poised to take back the seat which his party last won in 2016.
Hayles argued that Brown will be a nine-day wonder.
“Them can chat, [but] you see where the work speaks for itself. When you come into the town [Port Antonio] you nuh see how pretty it is,” said Hayles while pointing to a mural erected close to the entrance of the town.
“He fixed up the playfield [Westmoreland Oval] so the youths can play on and seats we can sit on and watch matches. So he has worked and he has more to offer in the third term,” declared Hayles.
She added that Dunn has a love for the people which is reciprocated.
“Dunn love we like how Jesus loves little children. A here him born and him know we hardship and a try mek we feel prosperity,” Hayles said while ringing a bell, the JLP’s symbol.
