Delayed but not denied
American content creator gets wish to see Fraser-Pryce’s final race on Jamaican soil
AMERICAN sports broadcaster and content creator Tiara Williams nearly missed her dream opportunity to witness sprint legend Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce’s final race in Jamaica. A delayed flight almost kept her away, but the former track athlete-turned-media standout arrived just in time to see the 38-year-old icon’s farewell performance on home soil last month, on the second day of the 2025 JAAA/Puma National Junior & Senior Championships (Trials).
Williams has built a reputation for her energetic, engaging interviews with track and field athletes, primarily showcased on her Instagram platform, Real Talk with T. Over the last three years her brand has steadily become a familiar presence in the track and field space. She also runs her own YouTube channel which features interviews with some of the sport’s biggest names, including Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce herself, Olympic champion Noah Lyles, five-time Olympic champion Elaine Thompson-Herah, and Olympic gold medallist Hansle Parchment.
For Williams, witnessing Fraser-Pryce’s final race on the island was non-negotiable.
“This was my first time seeing her race in Jamaica,” she shared. “To see everyone come and give her all that love was super inspiring. It meant everything to me to be a part of her history and her story, and seeing her last race in the National Stadium.”
The experience was deeply personal for Williams, who has developed a connection with the Jamaican sprint queen through her work in the sport.
“Her legacy means everything to me,” she said. “Coming into the sport now as a creator and an interviewer, she has shown so much love to me in ways I could have never imagined. She has the most sub-11 100m races than any other woman in the history of this sport — and that speaks on her legacy itself. She is the 100m Queen. Period.”
Fraser-Pryce’s final race at the national trials drew global media attention, fitting for an athlete regarded as one of the most decorated in track and field history. She finished third in the women’s 100m, securing her spot on Jamaica’s team for the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo this September.

Williams was equally impressed with the electric energy inside the National Stadium throughout the four-day event.
“I think the atmosphere was probably the same as at Grand Slam Track,” she said. “The atmosphere in Jamaica, having experienced two meets so far, is top-tier.”
Though she departed the island a day after the Trials concluded, Williams made sure to enjoy some of Jamaica’s beauty before heading home.
“I love Jamaica; this is like my sixth time being here or more,” she said. “I got to go to Bob Marley Beach before the final day of the event. It was so beautiful.”
And her connection to the island doesn’t end there. Williams revealed she’ll be back for her third visit this year, with plans to vacation in Montego Bay this October.
