Apprentice Tyrese Anderson continues to rise
Apprentice jockey Tyrese Anderson is steadily making a name for himself among the top riders this season, and his latest win, on Saturday, July 5, 2025, was a testament to his growing skills. Anderson secured his sixth win of the year aboard Sir Ganga Jamuna, trained by Rowan Mathie, in the sixth race at Caymanas Park.
The contest was a challenging Optional Claiming ($350,000-$250,000) event including native-bred six-year-olds and upward that hadn’t won three races.
Anderson employed a clever riding strategy, relaxing Sir Ganga Jamuna off the pace behind Minidewak, ridden by Raddesh Roman, and Heiroffire, ridden by Reyan Lewis. As the field approached the final furlong and a half of the 5-furlong (1,000m) straight race, Anderson expertly guided Sir Ganga Jamuna to the front.
Once hitting the lead, Sir Ganga Jamuna cruised home to win by an impressive 5 ¾ lengths in 1:03.0. Milliniun Star, ridden by Phillip Parchment, finished second, while Mister Mandate, ridden by Evertte Clunis, took third place.
