Truck driver in Noel Maitland case begins testimony
KINGSTON, Jamaica — A truck driver who was allegedly contracted by constable Noel Maitland in July 2022 to remove a settee from his apartment in St Andrew has taken the witness stand in the Home Circuit Court trial of the policeman.
Maitland is on trial for murder and preventing the lawful burial of a corpse. The case stems from the July 12, 2022 disappearance of his 24-year-old social media influencer and entrepreneur girlfriend, Donna-Lee Donaldson. Donaldson was last seen at the Chelsea Manor Apartment complex in New Kingston, where Maitland lived.
The truck driver, moments ago, explained in court to prosecutors and a seven-member jury, that in July 2022, he was given a “work” to do by Maitland.

The driver said that on the day when he did the job for Maitland, a man by the name of Carlos, who worked as a sideman on delivery trucks, beckoned for him to come over to where he and Maitland were.
He said Maitland was sitting in his motor vehicle when he and Carlos engaged him in conversation.
“We get a work from Noel fi pickup up a settee. Me start talking and ask if is a two-piece or three-piece or what. Noel answered and said it’s a one-piece and him need it to move. We came to an agreement with the price before we moved. I asked him how far he was going and him seh Half-Way-Tree Road.
“Noel said we would be picking it up at New Kingston. I asked where in Half-Way-Tree and he said nearby. He said to drive and follow him, so I drove and followed him. It was me and Carlos. Carlos was in the front part of the truck with me. Noel was driving a hype vehicle, a nice vehicle. I think it was a Bimmer or a Honda,” the witness said.
